overfilled oil ..

To my great disgruntlement, I have found that the dealer over-filled the oil in my car such that the dipstick is covered in oil about one centimeter above the hash marks. Like a dummy, I did not check the oil level when receiving the car from my last service appointment, and so I've been driving this way for about 3000 miles now.
I'm afraid the potential damage is already done; what are the signs that oil has gotten into the plugs or into the catalyst ?
thanks

if you haven't noticed a hesitation (there is a TSB on this, tech.vw.com), or oil leaks it probably has not damaged anything. Mine hesitated when overfilled, but it was up about a quart (~liter). You might want to get it back down, better safe than sorry. If I understand the difficulty correctly the problem with overfill is that it prevents the oil from draining from the crank seals, increasing the pressure on them leading to leaks, and that the crank beating in the oil increases the oil vapor which then the crankcase vent draws into the engine, fouling the plugs and converter.
