OY ****E! Flashing CEL, car is misfiring like crazy, so I think I lost a coilpack. then it stops?

VAG-COM can tell you the # of misfires in each cylinder.
As far as testing the amplifier goes, there was actually a post recently that covered how to test it...all it required was a multi-meter. It might even describe the procedure in the Bentley. So first things first, swap out your plugs. If that doesn't do it, find a VAG-COM and track those misfires, and then swap coilpacks. Finally if it's still misfiring, by process of elimination, you can be pretty sure that the amplifier is your culprit. Good luck
