Paint chips from hell

Paint chips from hell
The Colorado winter has taken bites out of my baby!!! Man this paint is soft!!! Clearbra is looking real good in hindsight.
Anyone have experience fixing paint chips on their front bumper and/or hood. My front bumper is littered with chips from end to end. It feels like sand paper when I run my hand accross it. The hood and grille also has an alarming amount of chips.
Is the only option to repaint? Will regular wax protect against rust? Responses appreciated by anyone with experience dealing with this. Options, cost, ect. TIA.
