Default Paint Pitting

I just completed a 1000 mile trip from DC to WV and back. Needless to say there were tons of bugs, and I didn't have the opportunity to wash my car during the the three day trip. I washed the car this morning and was dissapointed to see black specks on my front bumper where the bugs had been. I realized that it was not bug residue, but infact the clearcoat and paint wer gone. My car is only a few months old but JEEZ!
I got some touch up paint(which incidently my dealer says is still aluminum silver and not light silver like the new 99.5 is supposed to be) already for my door, and I guess that will solve the problem, but am I going to have to keep touching up the bumper all the time? I think this is a little ridiculous. The car seemed like it was waxed when i took delivery...the water was beading and the paint felt smooth. I am guessing it needs a wax now becauwse water no longer beads..but i still did not expect such a short time with bugs on the bumper to cause such a problem....
alex
99.51.8tqms

Default Re: Paint Pitting

Excessive paint chips seem to be a problem with the A4 paint. I have 62k on my 97 1.8tqm and dozens of touched up paint chips on the bumper and front of hood. My touch up skills need work & Im in the process of trying to get plasti-kote paint since I find the dealer paint too thick to apply layers of paint. You may want to try stonguard or X-pel protection.

Default Stop - here is the part # for the new light silver touch-up(more)

Darrel,
I also have a 99.5 w/ light silver. My dealers parts departmnet first handed me the aluminum silver touchup but I told them to look up the new color. They found the new color listed on their computer as Lake Silver and they ordered it for me. The touch-up paint part number is LST-OM2-Y7W. I think this is the correct as the label by my spare says paint number LY7W.
Mitch 99.5 1.8tqms
