painted engine cover?
i know there have been threads on this before, but i kind of have a specific question....
my car is silver...i want to paint the engine cover as close to the cars color as posible. what would be a good paint to get? the only high heat resistabce spray paint i know of is plasta-kote. does it have to be primed? also is gloss clear spray paint ok to finish it with? do they make heat resistant clear coat??

Have a painter or body shop paint the cover
with the color code for your car. The paint can be standard car paint and does not need to be a high temp paint since the cover is plastic not metal.

Just need to buy the right supplies
using PPG automotive paint which you can get from a automotive paint supply store and they will even mix the color for you using your color code.

my silver matches the engine pretty well but as you can see....
it doesnt really match the car. this was just the plasti kote paint. if youre gonna wanna try to match the exterior silver you should probably check out something else. i didnt clear coat mine cause i didnt want it to get glossy. i just used hi temp primer and paint and its been fine for a couple months. hope this helps.
