under the engine's temp? I'm guessing not, but I did a search...and someone posted that their engine cover was painted w/o high temp paint, and held up.

high temp primer (2 coats), high temp paint (2 coats), high temp clearcoat (2 coats) it holds up fine.
I would recommend redoing it with high temp paint, cuz my clearcoat gets a little slick now and then after long runs in the heat.

Look at all the painted frame parts inches from the block... im sure they get extemely hot, probably hotter then the valve cover. I think you will be fine, but do keep an eye on it. Automotive paint is already a somewhat high-temp paint.
