Part Two: Boost gauge pod has arrived (what do you all think?)!!! AND NEED SOME HELP!!!

For those of you who guessed gauge pod from last time, you would be correct. Many thanks to Tom (A4@WORK) for your time, effort, and expertise. As you can see, it is an extremely well made piece. It fits together as if it was oem! The plastic is strong and it matches perfectly with the column.
I haven't installed it yet, as I would like to get some input from you guys (searching really didn't help me, and I spent quite a bit of time there). Here are the questions (thanks in advance for the patience). First, what kind of hose should I use and what is the inside and outside diameter that I should use (something that won't collapse)? Stealership told me ID of the vacuum hose is 3mm. Is that cloth covered hose good enough (he quoted $10 per meter)? What clamps should I use with the hose? How do I connect the vacuum hose with the nylon tubing that comes with the VDO gauge? Lastly, what kind of fuel filter should I use (pics please) and where in the line should I put the filter (I plan to tap the gauge into the BPV hose)? TIA for taking the time to help out this noob!

Autometer sells a boost guage install kit with all the tubing and connections you will need, thats what I used for my VDO Saturday. I am on the hunt for the right fuel filter (need a 1/8" diameter to fit the line to the guage) as well as a brass 1/8" t-adapter to replace the plastic on that is working fine but i would feel batter with a brass fitting in there long term.
Leaving the Autometer boost line uncovered is fine except in the locations that it is liekely to rub against something where I wrapped it in a rubber hos for portection.
Hope that helps a little.

After all I read, I still have not the slightest clue on how to get the vacuum tube from the outside of the car through to the inside of the car. Something about going through the ECU? Is that the only way to get in there? I took off the battery cover and just the fuse cover on the inside, but I see no light going through. Please help with this as it would be the biggest obstacle for me.

see the rubber hose that goes into it? then look above that, there is a rubber nipple (either used by the car or not)... my DBW is not using it. I made holes in the rubber for my ****... boost line, stereo line, and camera wire. All sealed with marine good silicone sealant. Works fine.
if you open the ECU box and pull the ECU out, THEN shine a lgiht down, the light will be under the drivers side knee bolster. THAT is how you get through

tap into this line with a tee fitting:
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/35703/tee_fitting.jpg">
then poke a tiny hole in this and run the line through

then, poke a tiny hole in this ecu grommet

remove the ecu cover (5 bolts) lift the ECU out and look at the rear of the plastic box the ecu rests in (where all the wires exit the plastic box). This opening is completely open to your car's interior. There's plenty of room to push the boost line down into the dash. You'll probably need to remove the knee pad (4 screws I think) so that you can route the boost line as you wish.

I would recommend tapping into the vac. line I'm pointing to in the first pic since it's away from the heat of the turbo and close to the gauge location. I love my auto meter gauge, even though I don't have a pod yet. I haven't had any chatter or spikes at all.
I hope this helps.
