Default Are Passats known to have timing belt failures??
Thinking of picking up a 99 Passat GLX with only 70k miles for 7 grand.

Default Treat the same as an A4 2.8 30V
because it pretty much is.

what motor does it have? if it is the 1.8T I think they are know for this issue

Absolutely. Check the B5 A4 FAQ there are pics from a failed passat timing belt

Default same engines as A4's you should get the TB done if it hasnt already... see if they will knock off...
some money for the job if it wasnt done yet...
