Has anyone kept their stock sport package "high performance" tires on during the winter? How bad is the traction in the snow? Just wondering b/c I don't really want to shell out the money for a winter wheel and tire package. Thanks

With the sport tires and quattro you'll get okay traction under power.....but braking is frightening. Really bad.
If you plan on seeing a fair amount of snow this winter, DEFINITELY get some snow tires.
Sorry, I know that's not what you were hoping to hear.

i did one winter with my sp8000's and it was s.c.a.r.y. sure, quattro might make me able to 'go' but turning and stopping was nonexistant.
you don't need "snow" tires, you could get by with "mud and snow" tires if you won't find yourself driving on packed snow or ice.

DO NOT DO IT! I just got some sp5000's put on my wheels yesterday in preperation for winter. I highly recommend these tires for a high performance year round tire.
