Default PES t-28 kit (tiptronic trans) drag strip time (1/8 mile b/c of stupid wind)

Well at least I got to run at the track today. B/c of my tranny my starts suck b/c I can't launch at over 2100RPM.

Here's my stats:

* Note I let go of the brake @ the 2nd amber light *

R/T Range: .502 -> .655 with 2 redlights (.490's)
60': 2.7 -> 2.9 (sucks i know)
1/8 mi: 10.5 -> 10.7
MPH: 72 -> 74

Overall I'm happy, just a little annoyed at the start, but hey what can you do ... bigger turbo + auto tranny ... pfft!

Compared to my father's car (S4 which I've had for the past month and a half) this is very respectible here are my avg times with his .. also auto tranny:

R/T Range: .502 -> .655 (same)
60': 2.4 -> 2.5 (Faster by ~ 2-4 tenths)
1/8 mi: 9.8 -> 10.2 (Faster by ~ 5 tenths)
MPH: 72 -> 74 (same, if not 1 mph slower on avg)

As you see ... the launch is a little quicker w/ the s4 (ahem v6 2.7L Bi-turbo vs I4 1.8L turbo .. two totally different beasts), the 1/8 mile is a tad quicker, but the speed at that 1/8 mile is exactly the same if not being 1 MPH slower than my a4. Note also it was VERY windy today which is why only the 1/8 mile. I expect to get low 14's with the t-28 + fmic + tiptronic... so I guess there's your answer for those who were inquiring.

One thing my father and I also noticed (as he was following me to the track), is that when I turned onto a side road off of our exit and took off... he found himself trailing and couldn't keep up. So that's why I'm so optimistic about having better than 15.1 1/4 mi time (which was my best w/ the tip in his car @~93MPH)

I am pleased Now if the weather would friggen cooperate!!! GRR!

Default A question for ya

would you also know (i mean besides this tranny fix) any way to reduce turbo lag.. Its just 1st gear up until 3000RPM then its friggen gone. I tried asking a few of my friends at the track today, but they run all NA engines and not turbos.

Default It is called revving but you cant do that since you have a tip. The American cars put tq converters

that have a higher stall rate.

Default im glad i didnt get trip. im thinkin ud play catch up on the track tho...

considering as my times are 14.8s with minor mods - my 1/8th mile times are 9.4s - im guessin after the 1/8 mile with that larger turbo, u accelerate like a mother..

Default thats what level10 is for :)

Torque converter and Hydro system service
but thats not happening until xmas and thats way past the end of the track season up here (which ends Nov 4).. guess i'll have to try it in the spring.

with the torque convertor service you can tell them what stall speed you want.. setting it to a nice 3100 RPM would be saweet

Note these upgrades go for I guess around what you would pay (if not a little more.. ) than what you manual guys pay for new clutch/flywheels .. so its not that bad. at least there's hope!

Default it might actually be your Trq conv slipping

if its only in the lower gears it might not be the turbo, with all your power you are might be past the limits of what the stock system will hold/transfer to the drive side.
have you done any testing on tranny fluid temps?

or mabye garret de-tuned the boost onset to make it easier on on your tranny?

Default I know some additional programming was done ...

in regards to my tip transmission. Tomorrow I'm going to call PES and find out specifically what they did and also to ask them about levelten.
