Default Pictures from Road Atlanta track day

It was, eh, wet. Huge thank you to Imola Baby for the pictures. The Porsche pics are from MarkFank.

Default Nice pics

Looks like those pics were taken directly across from where a few of us were camped out for the Petit LeMans. That track is great. I would love to get my car on that. It's a shame there were at least two crashes. The Porsche looks to have a hefty check coming it's way for repairs.

Default the Boxster S and the WRX were totalled.

A supercharged Miata also crashed but the damage looked repairable. RA is a FANTASTIC track to drive when it's dry; it's scary as hell when it's wet as I found out Saturday. You can see some of the standing water on 10a, and it was like that all over the place. All of the crashes occurred in the Esses, which is normally my favorite part of the track. I can stick to just about any car in 2 through 5, but this weekend it was like ice. I've done my first and last wet weather track day.

Default I didn't see much of the WRX damage. That is amazing and a shame...

I noticed how all the cars were slipping off the track during the wet weather at the Petit LeMans right there at 10a. I can understand what you are saying about that turn. The Esses do look like the best part of the track.

I might have to make my way down for a track event sometime.

Default 10a actually wasn't that bad....

you have to slow down so much well before that turn that making a nice apex is pretty easy there. The Esses however (2-5) were downright treacherous. Downhill (then up 4-5), off-camber/negative banking and sheets of water running down...I never made one pass through that section that felt good. Due to conditions I could never get my race pads hot enough which made things worse.

I highly recommend doing a track day there if you can arrange it. The next one is February 22-23 and I may do that one. If not then definitely May 24-25. Also I heard that you can privately rent the track for 6 hours for $6000, which is a killer deal. Fully staffed, EMTs, corner workers, everything....I may try to arrange an Audi event there. If we can get 30 people to show up the split is $200 (Saturday only track days is $225 and you share the course with 60+ cars).

Default Wow. Sounds like a good deal

Please keep me informed if you do rent out the track. That would be incredible. It would be well worth the 8 hour drive down to do that. Also I will keep in mind those dates for the next track events.

Bone stock the M3 would have the weight advantage, but nearly every body panel on that car is carbon fiber. I let him pass later in that session as I was not pushing my car that hard in the rain. I let him pass and earlier I let a guy in a SVT Cobra pass because he was RIGHT on my ***; he was driving like a nutcase and I wasn't going to be the guy he plowed into. I'm surprised he didn't lose it with all that rear wheel HP. Not many were passing but I did pass a Z06 and a new M3 on the back straight.
