Default In the early 90 I used to work for an electric company and used oven cleaner to remove paint...

letters on the side of vans before they sold them, worked good too.

Use a hair dryer to heat the stripe and slowly peel off

Default Re: I was willing to pay the bodyshop to do it too

Super kind! Thanks everyone for the advice. Going to the Home Peep Show (aka Home depot)to pick up some goo gone and to Wegmans for some Qtips! Time to bunker down and pray for the best. I'll keep track of my progress and post some pics. Thanks again!!

Default i used plastickote's paint thinner on qtips for my saleen

it takes a fair amount of time, but it's well worth it.

years ago during college summer break, i worked on the saleen ssc production line out in souther cal and was a bodywork, decal, and detailing specialist. we took brand new white 5.0 ford mustang lx's and stripped the cars basically down to a bare-shell before rebuilding the cars to saleen ssc specs.

most of the white lx's came with a dark gray pinstripe that we moved with a generous amount of paint thinner on a soft, clean cloth.

i was a bit concerned about removing the strip on my own saleen since it was several years old at that time and didn't want to damage the surrounding paint, hence i used qtips.

good luck, be gentle, and take your time. don't forget to wax the area right afterwards.
