Default Pitting on rotor surface is an indication of what?

normal wear and tear? excessive heat?

I would say lack of use. I've let a couple of my cars sit for too long, and even after some use, the rotors are not glass smooth.

the rotor in general is smooth, with sand grain size pits scattered about. 1 every square inch.

Default that's odd. rotor termites, maybe? :-) what pads are you using? do you see this front and/or rear?

How deep are they? maybe it's normal and I've just never looked this close at my rotors.

Maybe the metal has tiny air inclusions, bubbles?

front stock rotors...with mintex. I "use" my brakes if you know what i mean

Default stock rotors...

i doubt its from material defect, one possibility is foreign particles from the heavy sanding on the roads this past winter.

Default What I don't get it is...

how foreign particles could cause pitting. I've never seen pitting on rotors. Maybe something really corrosive got somehow on the rotors?
