Default Please Help...Hood Stuck, please read

To get right to the problem go to the ==>
I was in the middle of the DIY sport grill mod. And I took the grill apart just to see how it worked and stuff. I went to the hardware shop and bought primer, paint, sand paper, etc. When I came back and tried to open the hood it was stuck.

==>I released the hood and the latch comes out of the grill right? Wrong, the latch was stuck on the grill. I could feel but it was stuck under the rings. I could not move it all. I tried pushing it down to get it unstuck. Obviously this happened because I put the grill back in worng.

I releaze this will make some laugh but please only serious replys...

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED! TIA

Andrew

Default sorry to tell you...but...

it's time for a kamei or RS4 grill....

ur gonna have to butcher that grill. if it's hot u might be able to get away with just tugging the hell out of it, it might pop out of the hood, other wise get a pair of snips and cut out the slats to get to the hood release.

Default if you have small hands!

so i'm assuming the safty latch is jammed , but the release is free. lift up on the hood and slide your hand in right under the opening for the handle. you should be able to release the latch, or move the handle so it pops back out. second method: get a nice heavy wire coat hanger and make a "V" out of it. again from bellow the grill hole feed it in open end up. trying to put it over the back part of the latch release arm. so that the ends come out the bottom. kind of inverting it as it goes over the arm. now pulling down, on both ends, will release latch.

Default Whoa, thats ridiculous.....

This happened to me and as much as I hate going to the dealer for anything this was one time it was worth it. Dont know how they did it but they got the latch to pop after they removed the bellypan and attacked it from underneath. Dont go cutting into your grill, thats the redneck approach.

Default use a screwdriver to pull/push the wire that the latch acts on

the safety latch most likely pulls on a cable, look @ the bracket & see if you can get a long screwdriver up/back there & try messing with it...never done this on an audi, but i've opened many stuck hoods this way with no problems
