I've recently noticed some noise coming from somewhere around my drivers side frot wheel...I drive a 99.5 A4 tqm with 82k miles.
here's the details:
Two days ago I was driving on the highway and noticed that I could hear a faint vibration sound only when I was turning right (when the car leans to the left). No sound was noticable going straight or turning left. I assumed that it was possibly a wheel bearing. I jacked the fron of the car up but found no play in either wheel. I decided to let it go a while to see if it got worse.
Today driving around town I noticed a clunking sound when I drive slow (5-10mph) and when I let off the gas quick in 2nd or 3rd gear which also seems to be coming from the near the drivers side front tire. the sound seems to be periodic (every time the wheel goes around). so I don't think that it is the control arms or tie rod ends. but also the clunking sound doesn't sound like a wheel bearing.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? or have any ideas as to what could be causing it? Could it possibly be the brakes? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My car does this but on the passenger side. I'm thinking its the wheel bearing, but then there are a few recalls on the suspension for the b5 cars. I haven't checked to see if these were fixed on my car.
