this guy got rear ended by a Neon sunday at H2O. friggin neon didn't slow down or anything, just straight smacked into this dude and kept rolling. rear end is completely smashed, rear door pushed forward, roof buckled, and a slurpy was spilled all over the interior.
this'd suck.

the low amount of damage to the rear bumper and trunk lid? Or is the angle of the pic hiding most of the damage?

The bumper came in pretty squarely, bottomed out the impact absorbers, and the rest of the energy was distributed into the floor of the trunk and the quarter panels (likely the rear subframe as well).
If the hit was a little higher (if an SUV nailed it), you would have seen the type of damage you were expecting.
