Default Porsche Just Announced Plan to buy Audi,,,,,(details)

LOL,,,,,yea I wish. Wouldn't that be the day. If something like that ever did really happen, all I can say is that great cars like the RS2 might come alive again. Although in my opinion, right now, Porsche needs to straighten out their own priorities and go back to their roots.

Default Trust me, you don't want Porsche owning Audi. Porsche needs to owned by Audi....

I do not have a lot of respect for Porsche engineers, and their management should be shot for devoting all their racing development funds to build a stupid SUV. Best T-shirt of the year award goes to a guy who was wearing a T shirt with the porsche logo that said "Forget Lemans, we're building SUVs!"

Do you think Porsche could have built the TT? No way. Do you think they would have allowed the A4 for such a great price? No way.

Boxsters are pretty much only serviceable by the dealer or advanced Porsche mechanic (no engine access), last thing I would want is that to happen to Audi.

Default Audi already owns Porsche..

..or a good portion of it via the Piech family. VW and P have been in bed for many years, and it's benefitted (for the most part) both companies.

Don't respect Porsche Engineers? Hmmmm. Christian, I'd have to differ with you on that one. I've owned a couple of their products over the years, and they are engineering marvels.

Default I was a 12year 911 Owner I was active in PCA, but I saw the writing on the wall when....

first my beloved 911 went air-cooled. Then when the 911 and boxter shared a significant amount of parts. Now Porsche SUV. What happend to "Porsche only builds spors cars"? Years ago, if a 944 and 911 shared parts NO 911 owner would stand for it. Porsche has lost its direction. I'm done with them. Audi shows a lot more promise and direction.

Default Audi/VW owns no portion of Porsche....

And when Piech retires next year, the family reations between VW and Porsche will be over. Porsche is still privately held (mostly by the family), and even though Piech is the Professor's nephew, VW/Audi has no ownership of them.

Piech should actually try and buy Porsche before he retires to prevent someone like Ford from trying to buy it one day.

As for respecting porsche engineers, I am just amazed at things such as the no-access-engine in the Boxster, and I am amazed they would sell out their soul and build an SUV. I do own a 944S, and plan on adding a '84-87 911 to my garage sometime in the near future, but then I work on the 944S myself and that engineering sometimes makes no sense to me. Of course, I would be lying if I said that didn't apply to some Audis through the years.

Default It's not the engineers at Porsche that want a truck, it's the Marketing Guys and...

<center><img src="http://porsche.theautobahn.com/models/prototype/carrera_gt/car_gt_02_l.gif"></center><p>believe me, none of the long time Porsche guys are excited about it. But have you seen the new Carrera GT?

Default The Boxster does have an access panel on top that screws into place...

When you get your 911 you'll see that most of the work is done from the underside.
