but I did have some additional work done to it. I had the flange straightened out, there casting leave it slightly angled. Some people complained about the mani causing the studs to get bent and the nuts backing off. Thisalong with Nord-Lock (on the mani-turbo bolts) appears to helped for me - 7k miles without a problem. I also had the mani Jet-Hot coated. If I were to do it again... Swain Tech. Much better coating I have that on my cat and downpipe and you can feel a noticible difference in radiant heat.
Power seems to have been shifted a few hundred rpm's higher than with the stock mani. I am not sure how it would compare to the P&P. I know that the P&P would be easier to install than the ATP with its fat runners, which were a pain.

more photos

it was about $80 for the machine work to get the washers to sit parallel to the gasket surface Edit: worth it to not have to go back and retorque the nuts repeatedly, and to prevent the studs from getting tweaked by torquing the nuts down onto the non flat surface. The Swain coating would be about $80. That is what Jet Hot estimated and the actually charged $125 (I was pi$$ed at them for that one - they said the quote was for their normal coating not for their high temp). Swain didn't rape me on shipping charges and for the better coating (cat and downpipe) they were about the same as Jet-Hot.

$80 seems steep for preventetive maintenance when im already paying $350 for a new manifold

Even with the ATP Elim Mani; youd have to at the very least, have the runners polished as they leave some pretty horrid casting lines in there. Plus the fact they don't have any slits on the head side for heat expansion/contraction, leaving you with the senerio of you having to re-tighten the nuts every so often, or do what shawnfm did and have it machined.
The ONLY bad thing about the stock mani is that it is a very thin wall casting, and is more prone to heat damage(cracking). One other good thing about the P&P though is the fact that it gets rid of the casting imperfections that creates "hot spots", so the mani will be less prone to heat damage. Swain Tech coating would also be a very good idea.

problem of them backing off, and the studs getting bent when you torque the nuts on. I wasn't as worried about the expansion slits when I test fitted the mani and had the machine work done. The flat surface were machined large enough that it would "float" The washers didn't lock the mani into place. And after 8 months no leaks and never re-torqued.
