I've pretty well scoured the archives since my cd changer and kit is en route from Clair, and thanks to previous posters there is very good info about both the left wheelwell install using the kit and the underdeck install which does not require the kit. Recent thread on wheelwell install has two very good photos of what that looks like, and Doug's photos go well with a4 FAQ on underdeck install. I've looked in my trunk and what I see confirms the info I've gotten from this board.

When the cd/kit arrives, I'm going to see how much space I lose and what the risks are of bumping and damage before I decide which way to go. Clearly both will work and look fine, and Clair says I can return the unused kit if I decide to go underdeck.
