A possible reason why the Saab and Boxter ignition is located in the center...
Does anyone ever accidently turn their car off with their right knee when driving? Ive never really thought of why Saab keys are located in the center console, but maybe this is a possible reason.

I miss the center section window switches from my old bimmer 7-series. Who ever thought of putting them on the door was a tard

Porsche puts it there out of tradition.
It was that way in races so that the driver can start the key and put it in gear when he had to run to his car at the beginning of the race.
