is it possible to un-bend wheels?
I just switched out of my winter wheels and hit a giant pothole. I had to drive from Boston to Ithaca (350 mi) with a bent wheel, which annoyed the hell out of me. First there was the shaking steering wheel, which was pretty noticeable. The wheel also made a humming sound which was never there before the wheel got bent. I'm wondering if its dangerous to drive with the wheel like this. The bend is fairly small, and the tire's fine.

It is almost always possible to repair bent rims. I was quoted $80 to $120 / rim and another.......
$80/rim to refinish. Not really worth it in my opinion.

I had rim that was bent so bad that the tire deflated, but for 100$, they...
repaired and refinished it to look like new. Very impressive. My next option was a wheel from the wreckers for 200$.

There are wheel repair shops out there, but it's not cheap......
Check through the back ads in automotive magazines like European Car or call your dealership. They can refer you to someone in your area.
I had a major dent in a 16" wheel from a 60mph pothole hit (it took out the tire sidewall too). I got it rewelded/machined up to factory specs. It cost $120 in November '97. I also had two other 16" wheels refinished which involves repairing minor scratches and repainting. That was $65 each at that same time. I was very pleased with the quality, but it sure is expensive. The cost went up with wheel size too.
