Default Power Steering

my power steering level was low so I added some regualr power steering fluid. It then began making noises so I went to the dealer and bought the correct power steering fluid. I changed out the fluid but the power steering still makes noises. What should I do?

Did you drain it completely or just replaced the fluid from the reservoir?

Also the fluid was bubbling when I looked at it. How is air getting into the system?

Default Did you not see "G 00000 20" on the top?

You cannot use regular power steering fluid. Our cars ONLY take synthetic hydraulic oil. Tsk tsk. Better hope your rack, etc isn't toast. I'd replace the reservoir and do a thorough flush ASAP.

Default Sadly, you might be in for bit time repairs. I'd get the entire

system flushed ASAP. Hopefully things will turn out OK, but I wouldn't be too optimistic.

Default There seems to be an awful lot of talk on this subject recently

I just picked up a bottle to top off my resevior the other day. Mechanic gave me the choice of Swepco 715 power steering fluid or the Pentosin. He said the Swepco is only $8 and is identical to the pentosin ($14/bottle). So I bought that. This stuff is probly no easier to come by than the pentosin, but I thought i'd let everyone know that it exists.
