Default Powered antenna adapter installation for Aft. HU?

Hi all,

I recently got a Pioneer DH-3600 HU for my A4 as part of a CarPC project (since my stock HU didn't have RCA inputs for the PC). I can't seem to figure out how to properly hook up my Scosche VWA2 antenna adapter that I bought with my stereo. It said in the instructions for the wiring kit not to use the blue antenna wire on my car. I tried it anyway (*grin*) and it seems to do nothing. If I hook the antenna into the IGN power, it gets warm and starts smoking (aah!). What wire can I hook the antenna into to give it enough power to function but not enough to blow it? I'll post pics of my CarPC when done :-)

Thanks all,

Straw

Default uhm. ok. take the blue wire from the antenna adapter

and hook it to the blue wire coming from the back of your HU. do NOT connect to the blue wire in the VW harness that plugs into the car. just cap this wire off or tape it shut by itself. again, do NOT connect ANYTHING to the blue wire on the side of the VW harness that plugs into the car. just fyi, if you don't connect the blue wire on the antenna adapter, the only drawback is a lack of AM reception. good luck.

Default Re: uhm. ok. take the blue wire from the antenna adapter

I have all the wires in my harness from the HU hooked to the VW/Audi harness that I got. The wire coming out of my antenna is red, not blue also. From what I gather from your post, I need to hook this to a wire that just runs through the HU, not one that is hooked through the Audi harness and linked into the power of the car? What wire (label) am I looking for off the back of the HU?

Thanks!
