Premature wear on ATE slotted rotors. What could have caused it? Please help!
I have had my ATE rotors and Mintex pads on the front of my car (97 A4 2.8Q) for about two month now. I've put about 4kmiles on the car and my rotors have already almost lost the groove. If I remember the manual correctly, when the groove (slotted) disapears, it is time to replace the rotors. I think I can still to a 1-2K on them before the groove is completely gone, but shouldn't the rotors last longer? My pads are still in very good condition and I have never seen rotors go before pads, let alone in such a short milage.
Could it be that intaller made a mistake and did not install the rotors/pads properly? Or can it only be a defect in the rotors?
What do you guys think? Any comments from ATE owners?
Thanks.

Look again....
....I bet your slots are packed with old brake pad. Take a scribe or a screwdriver and clean out the grooves. I seriously doubt you could have worn down the rotors that quickly.
By the way, I probably have close to 10,000 miles on my ATE slotted rotors and they don't show any signs of abnormal wear.

I can't tell from your pictures....
...but is there much of a "lip" along the outer edge of the rotors? If there isn't much of a lip there, then the rotors aren't worn down that much.

Yep, packed with pad material...use a flat-head screwdriver to extract it.
This is normal with these pads. They need to be cleaned out every so often. At the track, mine would be full of Porterfield R4 after every session. Just cleam them out.
