Default Pricing for 2001 A4 1.8t Quattro

I'm working with Rusnak Audi in Thousand Oaks, California and they are quoting me a sticker price of $29,800 for a 2001 1.8t Quattro, manual, sport and convenience packages + Bose (which I don't really want) that they just got on the lot in the color and interior I want (black). This seems high to me, since I bought my 2000 A4 with identical equipment (- the Bose) for $27,500 sticker just 6 months ago from the same dealership. The salesman is claiming that Audi raised the price of the A4 by $1500, but I've heard it's closer to $500. I'm thinking $28k is a fair price for this car.

Can you guys tell me what you've been quoted or paid for 2001 A4's?

I am about to buy an '01 which will have to be special ordered. I feel like 3.5% over invoice is fair. This works out to about $900-950 for them to fax an order to Audi, roll the car off the truck, and wash it. If I were buying a Honda I would offer $350 over invoice but since Audi/VW doesn't have dealer holdback, I feel they are entitled to a little more.

I keep hearing 3.5% or 5% over invoice - but how are you all calculating invoice? Are you going to Edmunds.com? If so, are you counting the cars options invoice prices or the options retail prices?

Default what's the invoice price?

go to www.cars.com and find out the pricing there.

the price increase was $550, but extra paint (pearl/metallic) costs an extra $400 bucks.

I would say stick to no more than $1500 over invoice.

Default Count invoice prices for base car & options (more)

I also included destination before calculating % over invoice. Edmunds' "True Market Value" gives you a decent target to shoot for, but pricing varies pretty widely across dealers and regions. Try for ~3.5%, but be prepared to accept ~5-6%. A lot depends on how much time and effort you want to put in to shopping around and negotiating, and how far you are willing to go out of your area.
