Default Problem with driver door on a 2000 A4 1.8tq, close door sometimes and ....

my trip computer says its still open as well as the dome light stays on. I know the door is closed and have even closed it with quite a bit of force and it still says its open. Does not happen all the time and when it does if i open and close the door numerous times it will eventually know the door is closed as if it was working normally. The thing that scares me is there may be a time i don't notice my dome light on and if could potentionally drain my battery.

If anyone has experienced anything like this or has any ideas please post them.

TIA

It is the contact switch on the inside of the door at the latch.

Default When he says "inside of the door"...he means it literally.

I think you have to take off the interior door panel to access the switch.

The contact switch is part of the latch.

Default Correct, most car companies went away with the older

door pin switch. It is now in the latch just like it has been on the trunk latch for some time now.
