My washer pump stopped working the other day and I cant figure out how to fix it. The fuse didnt blow and the wipers still worked so I thought the pump was gone. When i pulled it out and hooked it up to power it ran. I then tested the power coming to it and there is nothing. I couldnt trace the power wire back very far. Any ideas on how to go about fixing this? Where does the power wire start? Its on a 96 A4 2.8QM.

Do the headlight washers still work if you have them?

It may be in the stalk inside the car. If you have any electrical contact cleaner try spraying a ton of that into the base of the wiper control inside. Hold a rag on there so it doesn't go all over and be sure to wipe it up fast as it can damage plastics etc, but it may help.

Without being there I can't diagnose the electric troubles as i have never had the wiper/washer wires out or run through how they go. Good luck, someone smarter than I will chime in..........
