Re: id go with a supercharged v6
OK, so why does everybody say this????
I realize we're talking about used cars here, but taking a look at new, an A4 3.0 with simular options to bring it up to an S4 level (leather, Xenon's) is $36,775 based on the Audi site. An S4 is $39,545, BUT you have to add the $4k on the A4 for the PES supercharger, bringing the total for a supercharged A4 to $40,775. Even if you don't get the same options, a supercharged A4 is pretty close to an S4.
So.....why not just get an S4 instead of a PES A4?????????
Just curious...
Personally I have the 2.8 30V and feel it has all the power I need.
What some people has said is correct I think. They have different flavors. The 1.8t slants a little more towards "sporty" in feel, the 2.8 slants a little more towards luxury in feel. That's not good or bad, just different.
I also think your transmission choice is important here. If you're planning on an auto, 1.8t quattro, you better plan on chipping it or your going to find it pretty slow. The auto is better in the V6 (stock), though personally I have and prefer the manual.
Just my .02 cents.

Because S4's are out of production and are hard to find in 6 speed.
the new one will be much more then 39K. They are gonna go after the M3 crowd with the next one. I'm guessin 50K or more

The answer !
If you want to cruise and do minimal or no mod's, buy the V6.
If you want to perform mods, and create a performance car, pick the 1.8T. Go for a Stage III, and you'll have a rocket ship.
