As for your decision...well, if you're looking for smooth quiet power, get the 2.8. If you're looking for something more visceral, and you don't mind chipped to make it faster than the 2.8, get the 1.8T. It'll make more noise, but we call this aural feedback!

i was faced with a similar choice about 2 years ago when i went to buy my 1st audi. I drove both and there is no doubt that the v6 has more power that is truely felt under your foot. the 1.8t though i enjoyed driving a lot more. After doing a little book work on the net, i realized that properly tunned a 1.8 can be pretty quick. Another thing i had to think about was gas prices. I new i would drive the hell out of both and i felt with the 1.8 i would get a tad bit better gas. When all is said and done, it is NOT UP TO US IN THIS FORUM BUT IT IS UP TO UR TASTE.

it's jerking me around pretty intensely. word yesterday afternoon was that we have alot of burning going on in our property, but that no structures had burned yet. now, this morning i get email that says as of 9 pm the fire had spread over even more of our property, and with it's overwhelming size it's hard to have any feeling of security at all. i am trying to keep folks up to date on the info as it comes out. if you all don't mind i'll put some info up here, marked off topic, and on steve's friendship board at http://www.network54.com/hide/forum/83319. thanx for asking. we're praying for safety of the women and men fighting the fire and also for the critters. there is a butterfly that is endangered. in the whole world, it lives only in a 25x3 mile strip along the south platte river there. there is also a communal wintering nest area for our bald eagle population that is believed to be burned away. it breaks my heart to think of the loss of wildlife and their habitat.

the butterfly thing is horrible...but the bald eagle is a tough SOB and very able to adapt. You should check out the winter sanctuary between Gunnison adn Crusty Butt sometime...it's so cool, 100's of raptors nesting along the river easily viewed from the road along with a few herds of Big Horn.
