I am also selling my old panisonic too. I will post that later on. But i am really concerned about the quality of this head unit. I tried it at the store on the setup that is in my car and it sounded really clean. My other options are the Alpine CDA7977 or CDA7875. If anyone has opinions on these could you please lend a hand.

I have the 5504...which I think is basically the predecessor to the 5441. hold on I'm gonna go look at the specs...

OK... the 5441 is a little less quality than the 5504 (which is now basically the 8051). The main advantage here is that there is no onbaord amp on either of these units, which increases sound quality.

Regardless, with the 5441, it's still a very good headunit and sound quality is where eclipse reigns. It has 5v pre-outs, which will provide some very clean sound if you use good amps. I cannot comment on the onboard amp on this unit. Make sure you buy it from an authorized dealer, mine was misbehaving and they replaced it without even sending it back (just put a new one in and that was that). You get a 1-year theft replacement warranty, and a 3-year man. warranty.

I reccomend eclipse more than any other headunit.

It had simple, clean design and flawless operation.
mine played cdr okay.. but if they were dirty it had some trouble.
