I obtained a stock 1997 bumper skin from a fellow Audiworlder last weekend and am contemplating the best way to install it on the bumper support I currently have.
It looks like it will need to be glued or bonded somehow.
What's the best way to do this? Best product?
Am I missing anything?

however. If you ever want to add an FMIC. You'll need to hack up the stock support ( i just did that this past weekend.)
You might consider doing it now, while you have the support off. It would be LOADS easier. My landlord and I got it done pretty quick with a sawz all but it would have been nice if the skin wasn't in the way

You need a special gun and tips to use the glue. My local NAPA (they rock) loaned me the gun and let me return the unused tips. This stuff is what the body shops use
I'm not sure it's that simple. Somewhere on the B5 there was a model change and the wheel well attachments are different, so make sure the black attachment brackets are going to work. Also, there are multiple layers of bumper that are melted/fused together to make the bumper skin, which wraps around the bumper bar. This could be a time consuming project. If you don't have the bumper off yet, I have a spare one in the basement that I can take pictures of so you see what I'm talking about.
I used the Duramix to put back together the inner and outer bumper covers; the previous owner had caught the corner of the bumper on something and ripped the two layers apart. The glue did a fantastic job.
Personally, I'd look for a replcement bumper with the integrated bar and go with that. My reference is a 2000 A4, but I'm pretty sure the '97 isn't much different...sans those wheel well brackets.

impact shocks, apply a LIBERAL amount of Sikkens or similar adhesive ... Duramix is good as well ... to the inside of the bumper skin at several points of skin to support contact, set the bumper skin in position and then tape the skin to the car body to maintain position until the adhesive dries.
Since the OE hangers don't apply with the Rieger, I ganked them from the fenders. Once the adhesive cures, you can drill a hole up thru the skin and into the fender close to the terminus of the bumper skin at the fender well. I opened the drilled hole into a square and then inserted a plastic body plug/nut insert for the bumper attachment screw to gain purchase. I find those square nylon body plugs keep screws from backing out.
Once installed, it removes just like the OE bumper/support assembly ... save the fender clips ... and needing to pull the aforementioned fender well attachment screws.
