I've heard that after driving for a while you cannot just stop and turn off engine, but rather that you have to sit in car with engine running to cool turbo down. What if any truth is there to this? Also have been told that jetta 5sp V6 is faster off the blocks and provides easier highway passing than the 1.8T. Last, where can I look to see full car pictures of various colors offered, especially hibiscus red. Thanks.

You ran the car hard before you pulled into stop.
Driving any turbo charged car hard creates heat in the turbo. If you shut of the engine this heat can Coke the oil in the turbo causing bearing failure.
You do not need to idle the car under normal situations. Racing or long full throttle runs would require a cool down period of 2-6 minutes.
The 1.8t engine will provide more power and better fuel economy than the V6 the second its chipped.
Go to www.giacusa.com for proof.
Thanks

Can you quantify "hard" driving? Here's my daily work ride.
1st gear shift usually around 4k at times at 5k (Atlanta drivers are brutal at the light). 2nd to 3rd at 3500 to 4500, depending on situations. General shifting at 3 to 4k. Highway at 65 to 80 depending on traffic, stop and go for the rest for a total of a 25 min ride, average speed per computer, 24 MPH.
Would you consider this to require a cool down? I used to have the v6, so I'm working my way up the turbo learning curve.

The 1.8T feels just as fast as the V6, maybe faster in some situations. Of course with a chip, the Jetta 1.8T would really fly. Also the 1.8 handles a little better.
