especially since Audi has been BANNED to some of the biggest rally events for using the QUATTRO.
"As far as the AWD argument goes, the dui quattro is really a safety minded system, definitely not the performance an electronics center diff will offer like the nissan, subaru and mitsubishis out there. Dont get me wrong, AWD is great, but it's not magic and it steals power after the launch."

steals powere off the launch, I usually pull on the LAUNCH at 6k about 1 car length off the bat on faster cars (example 330i).
So NISSANS center differential will OUTPERFORM the Quattro system?? How?
Doesn't the QUATTRO have MORE slip differentials.. helping more in the handling department.. along with the launch..

.. relatively new QUATTRO ('96-present) compared to Mitsu and Subaru's Center Differentials. How does Quattro stack up in terms of performace?

quattro is a peformance gain in certain situations, and a performance detriment in others.
In drag racing, quattro means you get a wonderful start from a dig. Seriously, there isn't a RWD/FWD car made that can keep up with a hard launched A4 through first gear. Think about that. Your launch guarantees that its a chase.
Unfortunately quattro means higher drivetrain losses, which means less produced power gets to the wheels. We might lose ~50hp from crank to wheels. From a roll-on, that puts us at a disadvantage as cars with lower driveline losses are, in effect, being more efficient.
In handling terms, quattro is again a benefit, allowing you to get on the power FAR sooner in a turn than you could with RWD/FWD.
Now RWD cars do benefit from being able to position the rear via throttle over an AWD, and frankly feel nicer being run hard.
In the real world AWD is wonderful. That is why i own an A4. Traction is never a bad thing...well almost never.

to control the torque bias less evenly like that found in the 5/95 split in the 996 Turbos. This is also true with the G35 Sedan's AWD setup. From a standing start the car is at a 25/75 bias and once in motion and there is no need for awd, it will change to a full 0/100% bias. In low traction situations the car's power can be applied evenly to all 4 wheels.

but i the majority of A4s aren't gonna quite do that.
STIs can adjust their power distribution which i think is a neat feature.
