Quattro - is it worth the extra $1750?
I'm torn deciding between the CVT and Quattro (1.8T). I live in Chicago, and we can get some pretty nasty weather here: rain AND snow. This will be my first car, so I am trying to justify the extra 2 grand (roughly) for the Quattro. From the reviews I have read for the Fronttrak, it seems that it is top notch compared to other front wheel drives, and second only to Quattro.

I originally set out to not spend the money on it, but...
After a test drive at my dealer, I wanted it. The salesman really scared the crap out of me demonstrating how the quattro systems handled and I said I had to have it. $1750 was a big extra cost, especially on the budget I was on, but it impressed me that much. Considering your in Chicago, in snow, I'd definiately get it. I'm in Central FL, where the worst we get is rains, so I don't really "need" it, but it's a very comfortable piece of mind.

Yes, but OTOH snow tires can make that FWD do the job in winter.
Honestly, I have an old 4000S front-driver that is my most favorite car to drive. Quattro is nice and for $1750 is a small fraction of the cost of the car. I think snow tires make a big difference on anything you buy.

Yes, buying Audi w/o quattro = going to seafood restaurant and ordering chicken . . .
If I had to choose only one thing, Quattro "is" what makes Audi so special and enjoyable to drive.
You can buy a lot of FWD luxury cars with good engines and suspensions, but only Audi makes Quattro (with equal power going to all four corners of the car) and combines it with a lot of great engineering all around you.
If you live in Chicago, you will kick yourself for not buying Quattro, given that Quattro reigns as the King of adverse driving conditions.
You will also see higher resale value with the Quattro.
So, look at it as improving driving pleasure, driving safety, and re-sale value.

Dealer test drive w/quattro sold me instantly..
Then the drive from dahlonega to the smoky mountains, reminded me on such a wise choice i made. Talk about insane handling, definitely get the sport package!!
