Default Question about "certified" A4

Hello I'm on the type 44 forum but need some advice for a good friend. I did a search but didn't find exactly the info I'm looking for.

She has a 2000 A4 2.8 Quattro automatic with 63K on it. She bought this car with 50K on it about 1.5yrs ago. Bought it from an Audi dealer and it's "certified" till 100K. They are telling her she needs tie rods already and want stupid money to do it. I understand that some things are maintenance items but I'm having a hard time believing they can't get this covered. You would think that being a certified Audi you could put more than 13K on it before needing all this major service. When the car hit 60K they gave here a list of what the car needed for around $1,100.00. WTF! Again, couldn't this have been done before the car was put up for sale only 13K ago.!? We took it to my independent for that ordeal. I could go on and on. I'm the big preacher for Audi and of course she bought this thing on my advice. I'm dissapointed at the way the dealer is handling it.

For those with certified A4's what's your experience with the certification? Am I kicking a dead horse or is this a squeaky wheel gets the grease type of thing? Any advice would be great. TIA

Default Re: Question about "certified" A4

I just bought my 2k A4 and ended up not buying certified because of the average $4000 additional markup the dealer wanted for thier "certified" version. I'll keep the cash in the bank and put it toward repairs as they come up. Stinks for your friend to have a bad experience, but they don't call them "Stealerships" for nothing. Good luck

Default My '00 was CPO'd (now expired) and they spent almost as much repairing my car as I paid for it....

trans, ps rack (complete including new tie rods and ends), ps pump, ECU, seals, wheel bearing, instrument cluster, fuel sender, headligh washer pump and the list goes on. $50 per visit no hassle no problems. I loved it. the '01 A4 2.8Q-tip that we have (bought new) has had zero problems with it. Warrantech extended warranty- yet to collect any real money off of them because the car is problem free so far.
