I've heard people here say never to apply anything on the car in a circular motion because it will cause paint swirls. But the directions on the IHG say to apply in circular motions.
Which should i do?

I had the same dilemma when I used IHG for the first time a few weeks ago. I tried to apply in a back-and-forth motion as much as I could. However, it is MUCH easier to apply in a circular fashion. The stuff really works great and it took out swirl marks left by the dealer's "buff job." I'd say try to to apply w/out using a circular motion as much as you can. However, if you do some circles, it really won't matter much in the end.

if something is caught in the buffing cloth then you will be making circular scratches. Also known as swirl marks.
