Question about exterior temperature indicator.

Your sensor is somewhere near your front bumper and will always give you a higher reading than a temperature sensor mounted on the top of a tree (or bank sign).

I have a Euro plate on the front of my car. I have noticed that the tempature reading is normally about 2C or 3C (3.6F to 5.4F) above other outside sensors (house, radio, signs).
When it's winter, I've noticed it a bit better, perhaps only 1C difference when it's -28C (-18F)
Where is that damn sensor again? I couldn't find any mention of it in the service manual.

...as long as you're moving along at a decent clip, I find the temp readout to be accurate. Sitting in traffic it won't be accurate due to the radiant heat coming out of the engine and up from the hot pavement.

Yes the ground, especially asphalt, absorbs the heat and radiates it off of the ground and with the sensor location, its taking the temps at the boundary layer of heat coming off the ground, you've seen the illusions of a wet road ahead, thats that boundary layer of heat...
