Question about exterior temperature indicator.

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter if my temp gauge is accurate or not in my car. For my purposes, looking at the gauge and determining if it's going to be somewhat cool, really hot, or somewhere in between when I step out of my car works just fine. Now, if I were using the temp gauge for purposes of scientific experimentation, etc..it might make a difference then.

A4's are not cheap. A simple thing like an outside temperature indicator should not be a manufacturing defect.
Factor into the equation the fact that the climate control computer uses the outside temp reading in it's automatic operations and the outside sensor becomes even more important.
The fact that this feature works well in the Japanese car brands puts Audi to shame on this one. So much for German precision.

However, my climate control seems to keep me cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold. As far as looking at a number on my dash, well it may be off by 1,2,3, or 4...Personally, it doesn't bother me all that much. However, to each his own.

The wind chill factor applies only to living objects that perspire. You feel cooler in the wind because of evaporation not due to a difference in temperature. The most accurate temperature is obtained in the shade on a windy day (the wind helps dillute or minimize the effect of ground heat radiation). The temperature displayed in autos will always be higher than the actual temperature due to engine heat and heat radiating from the ground (especially asphalt). The faster you are going the more accurate the temp. as you the sensor will be less effected from heat radiaiting from the pavement.

for climate control? It uses the sensor center top dash and the sensor right above the climate controls. the outside one is use for outside temp.

when it is cold out, the climate control computer will not engage the compressor below a certain temperature to avoid freezing the coils.
if there is an electrical impedance or bias issue, all temp readings (inside and out) sent to the computer may be off
The point is that it is not acceptable to have such a blatently defective part on the car. Other car manufacturers can get it right. Why not Audi?
