Default Question about lag when I floor my car..

I've had my 98.5 A4 1.8TQMS for 6 months now and I'm still not sure if this is normal. When I floor my car from a stand still it doesn't take off. The revs kind of bog down ..start at 1000 and finally when I reach 2500-2800 or so the car will pull (obviously). I would say it's a 1 or 2 second delay. All other manual (N/A though) cars I've driven don't do this. I was wondering if this was normal? Is my clutch bad? TIA

Default i'm not sure i understand.

You floor your car but it doesn't move? Or your launch is "slow" ? Or the car doesn't engage the clutch until 2500-2800?

Default Ever hear of "turbo lag"? Sounds like you have it

Problem with trying to squeeze a quart out of a pint pot.

Is my clutch slipping? I've driven an auto before and it didn't feel like that

Yeah cause the 2.8 pulls like a freight train under 2000 rpms. LOL

Default So when you take off, you pretty much have the clutch out at idle and floor it?

that's called lack of natural power + outside the power band + turbo lag. 1k - 2k is pretty gutless in these cars. Launch higher.
