Question about quattro system.

I was driving through lots of rain today coming home from work in Atlanta. When I would hit deep spots my car felt as though it was slowing down. I am wondering if that is the quattro system braking the wheels that are losing traction.
Thanks
Jeff

That is normal for all cars. If you hit deep water you are naturally going to slow down or pull to the side. BTW you can still hydroplane and possibly loose control but your counteractions will be more effective with the quattro system.

ESP and ABS control braking pressure.
Quattro only functions to transfer POWER to the wheels that have the most traction.

Quattro uses the brakes if there is a wheelspin difference on a single axle. So if the wheel on the left front is faster than the right front, the ABS system is engaged to slow it down.

From what I know, there's no true LSD's at all on the rear and front, just open differentials. So basically, EDLs are used to slow down wheels. And EDL's are basically a fancy description for what amounts to a substitute for a real LSD, using the brakes to slow wheelspin. I also read that at one point, there was another Torsen in the rear on an older system but was dropped due to cost.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
