Someone here mentioned yesterday that my dual mass flywheel may be going bad and that's what is permitting so much engine vibration to be conducted through the pedal/shifter/steering wheel (I notice the vibration coming through all three at this point and it's definitely related to RPM).
Can anyone else comment on this? I need to swap out the clutch soon, right now I have a SPEC 2 replacement and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the flywheel. Should I just buy a new OEM flywheel at this point? If it is the FW that's going bad and not absorbing engine vibration properly, can it even be repaired/resurfaced? Has this happened to anyone else?

as I understand it...the dual mass flywheel has weights that move to the outside diameter when the flywhel gets going. my theory, is that one of these may be sticking, causing an imbalence in the flywheel. If this were the cause, I would replace with a lightweight flywheel.
this is only one possible cause. I might check for a mis-aligned drive shaft or motor and tranny mounts, too.
