Default Question for brake gurus: I was attempting to replace my pads today and noticed I have more wear...

on my rotors than on the pads. At least it seems that way, as my rotors now have a "lip" of unworn material that is preventing me from sliding the front calipers off the front caipers. Does anyne have any experience with this problem? It looks like I'll replace my rotors now, but I still need to slide the caliper with the old pads off the rotor.

Default we just did mine today and my pads are embeded in the rotors

the outer pads shouldnt be 'attached' to the calipers, loosen that up and the calipers should slide up. some installers put anti-squeal goo there that may have frozen

Default Thanks. I didn't try too hard to bust the outer pad loose from the adhesive yet. I was too...

shocked at the level of rotor degradation and had to have a beer (or six), so I'll get back to it tommorrow.

Default Rotor wear like that seems to be common...(more)

good thing replacement rotors (aftermarket Zimmermanns etc) appear to be cheap.

Default

Rotors are normal wear items. Audi does not resurface them.
