A Question On Coolant and Oil Levels
Does the engine need to be warmed up to get accurate oil level readings? Checked the engine oil this morning after a cold night and the level was well below the minimum. If after getting an accurate reading the oil level is still below minimums, can I just add oil to get it back up? And can I add synthetic if the oil already in the engine is not synthetic?
Also, the coolant level is well below the minimum mark in the reservoir. The manual says that loss of coolant is an indication of a problem and that it is not sufficient just to add coolant but that it should be inspected by an Authorized Audi Tech. Do I have to bring it in or can I just add coolant?
If it matters, it's a MY00 2.8 Quattro, 5 speed. Also, I was on level ground when doing the checks.
Thanks in advance.

Re: A Question On Coolant and Oil Levels
Don't let the engine warm for more then 5-7minutes unless you're in Alaska.
Once the oil hits 170+ deg..it can an will pump freely
You can add oil..you car is new. Drive it hard and get those rings to seat so you don't burn anymore down the road.
I would not mix the synthetic's with the dino oil..you'll want to avoid any potential build up.
If you're low on coolant, you're leaking. Sometimes the hose claps are not secure. Bring her in.
