Hello all! I'm looking at a 98 audi a4 2.8Q. I haven't gone to see it yet because the guy says it is in the shop getting its control arm fixed. He claims the control arm is a recall. I just wanted to know if there is actually a recall on the control arm? Also he said he was getting the front-end realigned. Could the control arm affect the alignment? Or is there possibly another problem with the car? Carfax report came up clean. TIA for any help you can give.

...It isnt really clear to me that worn control arms are limited to the cars in the recall since it seem to be fairly common complaint here, but getting them replaced under warranty if worn is a good thing and it doesnt mean there are other problems you should worry about.

Audi knows about the problem, and they will pay for control arm repairs under warranty, and in some cases outside warranty as well, but I do not remember seeing a recall on this problem. I do recall a tie rod recall however.
And yes, a realignment should be done after replacing the control arms.
