Default Question regarding a control arm recall..

I've been taking my 96a4 to a different shop besides the dealer since I've had it. (about 3 yrs) Now, the shop has diagnosed that my lower fwd control arm is bad. I called the dealership to ask about the recall and to see if it qualifies. They said without looking at it, it does seem like this one would be involved in the recall.
That being said, he told me Audi wouldnt cover the recall because I havent been taking my car to the dealership for maintainance/work. I totally disagree with this.
How can that be right?!

Default Sounds about right.. Audi has pulled that card on the oil sludge issue, and now the CA issue....

It's within their rights, but it's pretty lame.

Default Should only matter if you have had any suspension work done

at an independant shop. If you have not done and suspension work then take it to the dealer and have them look at it. Think about, oil changes have nothing to do with control arms

Default When i spoke to AOA, they said as long as it was a professional mechanic and .......

you have proof of each major service you will be fine. They get you with the oil sludge issue becuase who honestly keeps a reciept for every oil change they did, or had done. I sent in my request for reimbursment for work done on the Control Arms in the beginning of January. I spoke with someone at AOA about a week ago and they said I should know their decision by the end of this month. I am just keeping my fingers crossed for now.
