...how do you "pet-proof" your car? My GF adopted a dog that has grown to be a 70lb. pain in the ***. Every time we go anywhere with the dog, we take her car, but c'mon...it's a Civic!

I have covered the rear seat bottom and back with a heavy quilt. I have never had a problem with scratched or torn seats, or hair for that matter. I vacuum the rear tray with a dirt devil and take the quilt out and wash it when it gets dirty. My dog is an excellent traveling companion and well behaved in the car. She has ridden about 80,000 of the 138k that I have put on this car.

For the dog's protection and your own in a bad crash or panic stop. Plus, keeps the dog restrained so he/she doesn't try to jump in front seat, leap out of car off leash, etc. These are excellent, extrememly heavy duty and well designed.
I also use a seat cover for my back seat, vacuum the car once a week, and wipe off slobber, etc. from windows, doors, and seatbacks. No problems.

Doggie seat belts
