Default How old is your A4? My steering response improved greatly after 2,000 miles.

Was bummed when I first got the car - then it improved greatly on its own (I love it when things do that!) Don't know what it was but suspect Dunlop 8000's needed some time to break in.
AndyN
98.5 TQMS
No no, it's too quick/light already! Go the other way

Default That's not what you mean.

I think what you really want is more responsive steering. Point and shoot. You can acheive this with better/stiffer suspension, bigger wheels (i.e. 17") and better tires. Of course, this makes the car very responsive but you do get a little stiffer ride.
Something I am willing to give up for that quick response.
-C.

I have the suspension, 18" wheels, etc. What I am looking for is "quicker" steering, i.e. fewer turns lock to lock. I did this on my Ur quattro in the UK (used to work for Audi Sport in the '80's). This usually leads to higher steering effort, but the A4's steering is light to begin with, so this should not be a problem.
Wish I could use my 10" Momo steering wheel, but the airbag cars have different adapter hubs, I'm told.

New tires are always kind of wandery, especially snow tires ;-)

Hmmmm, I see. Your first post wasn't as clear. I agree with you I would actually like a firmer steering feel...the A4 is trying to be too luxury IMO. I much prefer the feel a 4000q has in that respect (among others too) and it's been a long time since I've driven an UrQ so I can't recall but I'm sure it was also MUCH better. That's when they built these cars more for enthusiasts than for the 'general' public.
I would also agree that a MOMO wheel would be a great modification (if you don't need/want an airbag). I prefer a smaller steering wheel (more sporty feel, etc.) I wonder if there would be a way to adapt the MOMO st. wheels?
I'll have to do some checking on this steering issue.
-C.
