im toolin around with my friend chris in my a4 tonight, kinda aimlessly wandering, looking for some racing action. im stopped at a red light and a volvo s70 goes FLYIN past me at about 80 mph in a 50 zone, kinda crazy. behind the volvo i see a red civic si with "fake xenon" headlamps and foglights. he pulls up next to me and i see a guy that i work with (owns a 12 second mustang) and they yell to pull over in a parking lot. i do so and we talk cars for a while. he has done full intake, full exhaust, vtec controller. i have only apr chip and tiptronic.

he lets me drive his car a bit and MAN is that thing slow until you hit vtec. totally ridiculous the lack of low-end torque. pretty quick up high though, feels faster than my car. so we go out, i give the owner of the civic a ride in my car and my coworker gives my friend a ride in the civic. we pull up to a light and my coworker yells out the window at me "vtec's gonna kick your ***!" i laugh and say "this quattro launch is gonna kick your ***!" he revs a bit, i do a FULL-OUT torque converter roasting brake-torque, full boost. the light changes and BAM! i am already 2 car lengths ahead. i pull about 2 more through the first part of first gear alone. i get to second and im still quite a bit ahead. he starts to pull on me through his second and third gears before we both shut it down.

this just goes to show that the combo of the chip and tiptronic launch with quattro can lay waste to alot of cars through the first half of a race. same thing happened with a newer model V8 SHO the other night. both cars would probably beat me through the quarter mile, but i have them through 60 because of the great launch.

anyways, just wanted to share my story of racing an import with some work. you guys got stories?

yup, thats why the A4 gets such great 60' times(if you can launch em that is!!!)

still in my pocket, the more i work the more i save, and after i save enough it goes to my dad to pay him back for my $1200+ repair bill so far...(6 new coils, and a new ECU that all got fried when the insulation of one coil cracked, nuked itself to the point of where a BMW master tech of 13 yrs said, and i quote "i've never seen anything f\_/ck itself over this bad!")
