actually at the NASA Championships there were some A4 and S4 ,past 2 yrs
One guy from Columbus with Silver A4 . Another silver one from Hudson ,OH , Dave Fletcher (no relation to Eric). The Blue S4 I'm not sure of ,I believe he was left coast.

I would look for a 1.8t car - lighter over front wheels and overall, and addl. HP is cheaper.
There is a lot that can be done to the stock chip (using stock existing setup). Every manufacturer leaves a fair amount of performance for the safety factor. Talk to an Audi driver @ a SCCA cone off. He might surprise you with how much can be gained with very little work.
