my radio has gone into safe mode and the code was not recorded on the manual. i've been told that it's listed some where on the radio itself. where is it (top, side, bottom)? how many digits?
the dealer wants $50 bucks to find this.....

the reason there's a code is so that when it enters safe mode (say, when someone steals it) they wouldn't be able to use it since they don't have the code. therefore, the code being on the unit itself would defeat the purpose. it should be in your radio manual.

the code WAS NEVER recorded in my manual. i totally agree that listing it on the radio defeats the purpose, but this is what the DEALER is telling me they must do to recover the code.....

then it could be stuck on one of the trunk hinges. Alot of dealers place the sticker in this or other not so common areas. Crackheads, while stealing radios (and Dougies A4) often forget to look in places like this, or cant get access to them w/o the key.

go to another dealer, tell them that you got this radio from scrap yard, and if they can provide you with radio code, because they did not have it..... they should do it for free... I don't know what the hell big deal is about those stupid radio code, it is your car not there, tell them in their face...
